The harsh effects of winter are still upon us. Up until now, biting winds and frigid
temperatures have contributed to raw, assaulted skin, which is often plagued
with chaffing and irritation. Winter also
brings about decreased humidity levels outside, as well as inside from heating;
reduced humidity levels also contribute to dry skin. Then there’s the decreased levels of sunshine,
which leads to pale, drab skintone. With
all of these negatives, it’s no wonder why winter isn’t exactly the most
favorite of the four seasons for many folks.
As we look forward to the end of winter, and the beginning of spring,
it’s a hopeful time for skincare transitioning, whether in areas of grooming,
treatment, or color. Following are some
ideal products to try as you transition from one season into the next. Enjoy!

~ Bobbi Brown Deluxe Rubis

Bobbi Brown Cosmetics ~ This ultimate precision handcrafted
implement for tweezing is made by Rubis Switzerland. Rubis has a sixty-year history of making implements
that use superior grade surgical stainless steel that’s rustproof,

~ Jane Iredale Mystikol Powdered
Eyeliner ~
The new Mystikol
Powdered Eyeliners are just in time for seasonal transitioning, and will
definitely add some beautiful color dimension to your eyes. The fashion-forward colors include Smoky
Quartz, Dark Topaz, Amethyst, and Onyx; I tried all but the Onyx.
I loved the clever design of the container; the cap contains the
applicator brush, which is easily removed and snapped back into the cap to
create an extended applicator tool. The
tapered brush takes the cream to powder, allowing for the ease of application
of either a thin accentuated line of color, a line that’s easily smudged, or color
than can be applied all over the lid, and dabbled, for a smoky effect. The colors are water-resistant, crease and fade
proof, and beautifully accentuate and highlight. These new Mystikol Powdered Eyeliners pair beautifully with other Jane Iredale eyeshadow colors. For a great demo of

~ Trilogy Natural and Certified
Organic Skincare from New Zealand ~
Sisters Sarah Gibbs
and Catherine de Groot founded Trilogy
Products in 2002. They saw a need
for a product line that offered pure, safe, all natural, organic, and
sustainable skincare product solutions, which weren’t readily available for the
average consumer in New Zealand. Their original product line included five
mainstay products, which were all based on pure Rosehip Oil, an ingredient they
had firsthand experience using, which gave them optimal results. They also appreciated how Rosehip Oil was nature’s perfect answer
for maintaining skin’s pH balance and for providing effective hydration, while
being ideally suited for all skin types.
Over the years, the product line has grown to include some forty
products for skincare, body care, and hair care. Trilogy
Products are the leading natural skincare line in New Zealand, which also enjoys a global outreach to some twenty countries. In the U.S., Trilogy Products are exclusively available at Whole Foods Market locations.
I recently had the opportunity to try a number of these products and
overall, found them to be very gentle and non-irritating, which was great for
my often-finicky skin. Following are the
various products I tried, along with their key ingredients: Certified Organic Rosehip Oil…100% Certified Organic Rosehip Oil. Rosehip Cream Cleanser…key ingredients included Sweet Almond Oil, Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, Evening Primrose Oil,
Rosemary Leaf Extract, and Vitamin E. Rosehip Vital
Moisturising Cream…key ingredients
included Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Evening
Primrose Oil, Marula Seed Oil, Bitter Orange Flower
Oil, Rosemary Leaf Extract, and Vitamin E. Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+…key ingredients
included Tomato Seed Oil, Cranberry Seed
Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Acai Fruit Oil, Lycopene, Oat Kernel Extract, and
Vitamin E. CoQ10 Booster Oil…key
ingredients included Macadamia Nut Oil,
Sunflower Oil, Strawberry Seed Oil, Chia Seed Oil, Pomegranate Seed Oil, Jojoba
Seed Oil, Blueberry Seed Oil, Ubiquinone, and Vitamin E. CoQ10 Eye
Recovery Concentrate…key ingredients
included Chia Seed Oil, Licorice Root
Extract, Green Coffee Seed Extract, Horse Chestnut Extract, Green Tea Leaf
Extract, Rosemary Leaf Extract, Evening Primrose Oil, and Ubiquinone. Age-Proof Active Enzyme Cleansing Cream…key
ingredients included Papaya Fruit Extract,
Sweet Almond Oil, Avocado Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Pineapple Fruit Extract, and
Vitamin E. Age-Proof Line Smoothing Day
Cream…key ingredients included Chia
Seed Oil, Strawberry Seed Oil, Pomegranate Seed Oil, Blueberry Seed Oil, Acai
Fruit Oil, Rosemary Leaf Extract, and Vitamin E. Everything Balm…key ingredients included Sweet Almond Oil, Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, Coconut Oil, Olive
Fruit Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Vitamin E. Here are my overall reactions to using these
products over a three week period: Both cleansers
were effective in removing all traces of debris, and left my skin feeling clean
and supple; their subtle aromas were lovely.
Both moisturizers effectively hydrated the skin, and were quickly absorbed
without leaving any tacky, or greasy residue; I especially loved the beautiful
aromas of each of these products. All
three oils were used as part of my nighttime regimen; each hydrated
effectively, and were quickly absorbed; I had to make sure I used a small
amount, because the formulation was very dense; any excess was rubbed on my dry
lips, or dry cuticles. The eye
serum also hydrated effectively; I loved how the product was dispensed
via a cooling metal roller ball; I applied it around the orbital bone only; it
was gentle and non-irritating. Lastly,
the balm
was a great go-to product for applying to dry lips, cuticles, dry knuckles,
and even on some of the dry areas of my feet; this product also had a lovely
aroma. All in all, if you’re looking for
a gentle, natural, and effective group of products, Trilogy Products is your one-stop source. For more information, visit their Facebook

No matter the season, be sure to take care of your
skin. Remember too, that as the seasons
change, your skin also changes, and with it, your skincare regimen and products
should also be assessed and adjusted accordingly. That’s it for this edition. Until the next one, remember to take care of
yourself and those you love.
