~ FACE GIFTING ~

Skin Authority ~ Beauty Infusion Gift Set
This must-have Gift Set is an exceptional mix of curated products for achieving skincare perfection.  Skin Authority continues to bring professional-quality, results-driven esthetic products to the non-professional, making this the perfect addition to any skincare regimen, or at-home spa experience.  The Gift Set includes all you’ll need for achieving revived and healthy skin, like Instant Perfection Peel Pads, Hydrating Infusion, Clarifying Infusion, Anti-Aging Infusion, and Brightening Infusion.  These products are formulated with ingredients that contain no dyes, fragrances, or parabens. Some of the super-charged ingredients of these formulations include Quinoa (Protein and Amino Acid Booster), Avocado, Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E, Shea Butter, Lemon, Turmeric, and Blueberry (Brighteners and Clarifying), Safflower Oil, Meadowfoam (Antioxidant Oil), Swertia Chirata (Gentian Herb), Abyssinian Oil (Hydration), Gorgonia (Skin Soother), AHA Glycolic Acid, and Fireweed Extract (Skin Soother). The beauty of these Infusions is that they can be worn alone, mixed into a moisturizer, or mixed into a primer or foundation.  Each Infusion can also be combined with another to personalize a treatment experience.  For example, some days I’d used each individual Infusion without any other product; then, other days I’d combine the Clarifying Infusion with the Brightening Infusion for my morning routine, and I’d combine the Hydrating Infusion with the Anti-Aging Infusion for my evening routine.  I only found it necessary to use the Instant Perfection Peel Pads a few times a week; this product helped to prime my skin to receive the Infusion, and maximize its efficacy; they also helped to refine texture, minimize pores, and soften fine lines and wrinkles.  I thoroughly enjoyed using each of the Infusions, and was always impressed with the results each one delivered.  With consistent use of the Infusions, visible results included dry patches being eliminated; skin that looked healthier and more vibrant; hyperpigmentation and general skintone became more even; pore sizes were minimized; and, fine lines and wrinkles were diminished.  Each Infusion was quickly absorbed, as well as being gentle, and non-irritating; they also provided exceptional hydration levels throughout the day.

While this festive season may have our thoughts focused on finding the right gift for someone, let’s not forget the best gift to give, which doesn’t cost any money, and that’s the gift of our time with those we love and care about…family and friends.  Lastly, don’t forget those in need…find a local or national charity and contribute what you can…that might even include volunteering for special projects, or sponsoring a food or clothing drive in your neighborhood, place of worship, or at your work place.  To you and yours, I wish you peace, joy, and love!

That’s it for this edition.  Until the next one, remember to take care of yourself and those you love.

FALL TO WINTER TRANSITIONING ~ PRODUCT SOLUTIONS

(Image from gallery.nicholas.whittal.com)
It’s that time of year again when colder air and decreased levels of humidity converge, assaulting the delicate mantel of skin, causing irritation, drying and an imbalance to healthy normal skin.  What better way to combat these negatives with appropriate skincare and body care products that restore, nourish, balance, and rehydrate assaulted skin.

When seasons and climatological conditions change, it’s always best to reassess the types of products and their formulations you’re using, and adjust accordingly with more appropriate products.  You might also have to adjust your regimen to adapt to these changes.  Cooler and colder temps call for different formulations and product consistencies, which often translate to altering your daily skincare and body care regimen.  Following are a grouping of skincare and body care products I tested, which accomplish those very things.  Enjoy!

~ For the Face ~

Guinot Institut Paris Age Logic Cell Renewal For Eyes and Hydra Finish Face Cream SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer ~ Hands down, the Age Logic Cell Renewal For Eyes is the best eye care treatment product I’ve ever used.  Not only was it extremely gentle, its silky consistency made for easy application, without any tugging at the fragile under eye tissue.  The product was non-irritating and was quickly absorbed; hydration levels were well maintained throughout the day.  I noticed a softening of the skin, and fine lines, with wrinkles plumped and filled; overall, the appearance was improved and healthier looking.  Product is ideal for morning and evening application, and recommended for all skin types.  Key ingredients include olive oil, algae extract, and Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP), energy molecules that aid in cell regeneration.  For the Hydra Finish Face Cream SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer, I rarely use a moisturizer that’s tinted, so I was eager to try this one; my problem with these types of products has been that the color tint tends to be too dark for my fair complexion.  The two plusses for this new product include an SPF 15 broad-spectrum aspect for sun protection, plus a Lavender tint, which is an ideal tint color for me because it neutralizes my sallow skintone.  The product also leaves a matte finish, which felt a bit drying to me; it did, however, minimize my pores, fine lines, and wrinkles.  Although the product had a grainy feel to it, similar to a gommage, it did go on smoothly, and was quickly absorbed.  I definitely think this product would work better during the summer months when my skin is less dry and temperatures and humidity levels are warmer.  Key ingredients include mallow extract, apple seed extract, and Vitamin E.  For more information, visit http://www.guinotusa.com

Jane Iredale Lemongrass Love Hydrating Spray ~ This exceptional Hydration Spray conditions, protects, and adds a subtle layer of hydration.  It’s also gentle and refreshing.  I enjoyed using it throughout the day. For warmer months, or hot flashes, try keeping the Spray in the fridge for an invigorating and cooling spritz.  The aroma is also uplifting.  This is also a treatment product that helps to minimize pore size and oiliness, and is ideal for sensitive and finicky skin.  Favorable Ecocert certification of natural and organic ingredients makes this product a real winner. Key ingredients include aloe leaf juice, radish root, lemongrass oil, orange peel oil, calendula flower extract, chamomile flower extract, lemongrass extract, lemon peel extract, orange oil, sunflower seed oil, and lavender oil.  Another great reason to use this beautiful product is that all profits go to Living Beyond Breast Cancer, a non-profit organization that helps support women impacted by breast cancer.  For more information, visit https://janeiredale.com

Skinphonic My Girl Twice Daily Cleanser, AM Hydration and PM Treatment Complex ~ This new skincare line was very gentle on my often finicky skin.  All products were non-irritating, and the AM and PM products maintained hydration levels through the day without any greasy or tacky residue.  My skin’s texture was smoother and more even looking, and looked healthier; fine lines, wrinkles, and pores were minimized.  Key ingredients for the Twice Daily Cleanser include camellia sinensis leaf extract, cucumber fruit extract, avocado fruit extract, mango fruit extract, aloe vera leaf juice, avocado oil, bergamot fruit oil, and rosemary fruit oil.  Key ingredients for the AM Hydration include coconut oil, sweet almond oil, plankton extract, olive fruit oil, avocado oil, shea butter, grape seed oil, bergamot fruit oil, and rosemary leaf oil.  Key ingredients for the PM Treatment Complex include jojoba seed oil, orchid flower extract, Vitamin E, licorice root oil, and uva ursi extract.  All products had a rich consistency with subtle aromas.  For more information, visit https://www.skinphonic.com

~ For the Body ~

Bee Love Skincare Replenish & Soften Body Lotion and Soften & Protect Ultimate Body Balm ~ Products are made by the Sweet Beginnings in Chicago’s North Lawndale area.  A big plus for Sweet Beginnings is that they have their own sustainable urban apiary as part of their operation, which enables them to regularly extract pure honey for their food and skincare products.  Another plus for this organization is that their operation enables the community’s North Lawndale Employment Network, which benefits those having difficulty with transitioning to work; the program also teaches critical work skills to program participants.  Both the Replenish & Soften Body Lotion and Soften & Protect Ultimate Body Balm were very gentle products that provided exceptional hydration that was maintained throughout the day.  Products were non-greasy and quickly absorbed; the aroma for each product was also lovely. I especially enjoyed using the Body Balm on my lips and cuticles.  With consistent use, my skin’s texture improved and dry patches were eliminated.  Key ingredients for the Replenish & Soften Body Lotion include shea butter, wheat germ oil, meadowfoam seed oil, avocado oil, rosehip oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, aloe, vitamin E, and their signature aroma.  Key ingredients for the Soften & Protect Ultimate Body Balm include olive oil, Neem leaf, comfrey root, eucalyptus oil, rosemary extract, lavender oil, vitamin E, sweet almond oil, honey, and their signature aroma.  For more information, visit http://www.beelovebuzz.com

With colder and drier air setting in, it’s key that you pay a bit more attention to the types of products you use, making certain that they’re formulated to infuse your fragile and delicate skin with a heavy dose of hydration that’s maintained throughout the day; make sure to also adjust your daily skincare and body care routine as well.  That’s it for this edition.  Until the next one, remember to take care of yourself and those you love.

SHIFFA DUBAI SKINCARE ~ LUXURY AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

(From Shiffa Dubai Skincare)

Prized the world over, award-winning Shiffa Dubai offers luxurious face and body products that restore, protect, and nourish.  Each product is formulated with high quality ingredients, including organic nut and plant essential oils.  Each product is also the perfect complement for any face or body care regimen, and is well suited for creating an indulgent at home spa experience.  I had the pleasure of testing several Shiffa Dubai products and was very impressed.  Enjoy reading about my product experiences from this luxurious brand!

~ The Products ~

Floral Facial Toner ~ The Floral Facial Toner was refreshing and revitalizing, and left my skin fully prepped for the next step in my skincare regimen, an application of a moisturizing product.  Key ingredients include Rose Flower Water, Marshmallow Flower Extract, Roman Chamomile Oil, Vitamin C, Pomegranate Fruit Extract, Date Extract, Cinnamon Bark, Irish Moss, Geranium Oil, and Rose Damascene Oil.  This product was ideal for all skin types and extremely gentle.  Its beautiful and delicate scent was also aromatherapeutic.  Overall, my skin looked refreshed, healthy, and hydrated.  Tip:  For a quick refresher, spray chilled Facial Toner on the face; great for hot flash relief, too.

Diamond Face Oil ~ The Diamond Face Oil is a complex blend of pure essential oils and extracts that is infused with energy balancing diamond particles (although I was only able to detect one miniscule particle; not sure if more were supposed to be in the product).  This exquisite Face Oil is highly concentrated, and requires only a very small amount to sufficiently hydrate the face, neck and décolleté; any residue on the fingertips can be applied to cuticles.  This Face Oil is quickly absorbed, and doesn’t leave any greasy residue.  I found it ideal for both a morning and evening moisture application, after a gentle cleansing and Floral Facial Toner.  Key ingredients include Almond Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Peach Kernel Oil, Rosehip Oil, Rosa Centifolia Oil, Borage Seed Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Sesame Seed Oil, Camellia Seed Oil, Orange Oil, Rose Damascene Oil, Rose Flower Extract, Bitter Orange Oil, and Sea Buckthorn Extract.  The complex formulation not only delivered superior hydration, but it was also aromatherapeutic with its multi-layers of pure floral essential oils and extracts, particularly the rose derivations.  Overall, my skin’s texture was improved and firm, appeared healthier and more luminous; the skintone appeared more even, and fine lines and wrinkles appeared diminished.  Tip:  Apply any excess Face Oil to cuticles and tops of hands.

Rose Bliss Balm ~ Rose Bliss Balm, an indulgent product, delivers intense moisturization.  This beautiful product was quickly absorbed, without leaving any unpleasant residue; hydration levels were well maintained throughout the day; it was also aromatherapeutic.  Before each application, all I had to do was take a small amount of product, and then warm it in between the palms of my hands to liquefy the viscous consistency.  With consistent use, my skin’s texture was silky, visibly improved with firmer and more elastic properties.  For a more thorough product application, begin with an indulgent regimen by dry brushing the body, then showering; after showering, lightly towel dry, and then apply the Rose Bliss Balm to slightly damp skin.  Tip:  the dry brushing will help to slough off any dead skin cells and prepare the skin for cleansing; the damp skin will help to absorb the warmed Balm more effectively.  When dry brushing, be sure your skin is dry; begin the brushing from the feet, working your way up to the upper torso; use circular brush strokes towards the heart; in addition to sloughing off of dead skin cells, the motion will also improve circulation; consistent dry brushing will also improve the skin’s texture.  Key ingredients include Argan Oil, Evening Primrose Seed Oil, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Geranium Oil, Sandalwood Oil, Rose Damascene Essential Oil, Jasmine Essential Oil, Frangipani Essential Oil, Honey, Chamomile Extract, Mango Butter, Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Macadamia Oil, Jojoba Oil, Avocado Oil, and Vitamin E; these oils are rich in Anti-Oxidants, Omega-6 Fatty Acid, and Linoleic Acid, which are nourishing, restorative, and protective.  This extraordinary product is ideal for all skin types, and safe to use during pregnancy.  An added touch of luxury is that the product includes a removable section of rose petals that enhance the product’s aromatic properties.  Tip:  Apply any excess Balm to cuticles and hands.

Rose Damascene Soap ~ This extraordinary luxury soap is made using the cold pressed method where no external heat is used; this process preserves the efficacy of the Soap’s key ingredients of Olive Oil and Rose Damascene Essential Oil.  This extremely gentle soap is aromatherapeutic, gentle, non-irritating, non-drying, and deeply moisturizing; it’s also ideal for face, body, and hair.

Jade Facial Massage Rollers ~ The Jade Facial Massage Rollers are the perfect must-have for an at home facial treatment regimen.  Using Jade Rollers as part of a facial regimen is centuries old and attributed to traditional Chinese medicine; the semi-precious gemstone was (and still is) prized for its natural healing properties, some of which include reducing swelling and puffiness, improving circulation, minimizing pores, fine lines, and wrinkles, improving skin’s elasticity and texture, lymphatic draining, and stimulating muscle tone.  The semi-precious gemstone is inherently cool, and perfect as an ideal refresher.  When used consistently, a more pronounced definition of the facial bone structure, such as chin and jaw line, was noticeable; the overall improvements to the face are also cumulative through consistent use.

~ The Shiffa Experience ~

(From The Spa At Trump Chicago)
To some, going to a spa is perceived as an unnecessary luxury and hedonistic extravagance…but, when the experience in fact restores, revitalizes, and nourishes, then that experience becomes an investment in self, which is well worth it.  For a listing of spas currently using these exquisite products as part of their therapeutic spa treatments, visit http://www.shiffa.com/shiffa-experience

I first time I experienced the extravagance of Shiffa Dubai products was at The Spa At Trump Chicago.  My therapeutic treatment experience was their Signature Balancing Diamonds Massage, which utilizes Shiffa’s Diamond Body Oil.  I wrote about that experience in a feature review article, which you can read about at http://definitivespablog.blogspot.com/2011/07/spa-at-trump-chicago.html

The Spa At Trump Signature Gemstone Spa Treatments utilizes Shiffa Body Oil products in their exclusive signature therapeutic massage treatments, Diamonds (Balancing), Emeralds (Purifying), Rubies (Revitalizing), and Sapphires (Calming).  For more information on these outstanding treatments, visit https://www.trumphotelcollection.com/pdf/The-Spa-at-Trump-Service-Menu.pdf

~ Behind the Brand ~

Dr. Lamees Hamdan is the name behind the brand that’s recognized for its healing philosophy.  She has been creating organic products based on principles of dermatology since 2004. After training as a doctor at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dr. Lamees developed what would become Shiffa’s first product; the product was a body oil that was safe to use throughout pregnancy. At the time the product was developed, Dr. Lamees was pregnant, and was able to test the oil on herself; the oil also nourished pregnant women’s fragile and sensitive skin by providing it with the maximum hydration and conditioning to firm, tone and restore the skin and body. After the success of this first product, Dr. Lamees set out to create her first range of skincare products. By combining her background and knowledge in dermatology, her passion for holistic healing and her vision for integrating nature with science, Dr. Lamees created a range of products, which would soon define the values of Shiffa. The release of this highly acclaimed skincare line was then launched, and it was then that Shiffa was born.  As a company, Shiffa started in her own home where she blended and customized oils, formulated products, and even packaged them herself.  “We were small,” she says. “There were just two or three of us in the office.” In the beginning, it was difficult for Dr. Lamees to establish her own business in a predominantly male environment. Her persistence and hard work paid off.  In 2005, the Sheikh Mohammed Establishment recognized her achievements as a businesswoman in the Gulf, and she was awarded the prestigious Best Business Leader, and Best Health and Well Care Organization.  With these achievements, Dr. Lamees was then able to secure a loan from the Sheikh Mohammed Establishment for Young Business Leaders. It was then that Shiffa was formally established and began making headlines.
